Licensing

Need a commercial licence?

FSL-1.1-ALv2 already lets anyone read, run and change callerlab and test their own agents at any scale, with no commercial licence. It doesn’t allow offering callerlab as a competing service: for that, or for Enterprise terms, talk to us.

Every FSL-1.1-ALv2 release turns Apache 2.0 on its own clock

A releaseFSL-1.1-ALv22 years laterApache 2.02 years, per version

Source-available under FSL-1.1-ALv2 (the text is LICENSE in the repo), not an OSI-approved licence. A contributor licence agreement is planned; outside code contributions are not yet accepted. It cannot pull back a released version from its Apache conversion.

Enterprise: let's talk. A commercial licence or Enterprise terms are quoted case by case under a written agreement.

  • Personas, noise settings and techniques. On hosted, a call’s persona, noise setting and technique are chosen through the hosted API. The dashboard’s dial form takes a number, a goal and a call length.
  • Scorecard lanes. A hosted scorecard measures the task lane, and the robustness lane when a run puts calls with another persona or noise setting beside clean calls. Hosted keeps no call recording, so the speed lane and the conversation lane’s timing read “not measured”; the conversation lane’s transcript figures still show. The compliance lane checks answers against a scenario pack’s fact sheet, and hosted has no packs.
  • 19 of 27 techniques. Eight techniques are off on hosted. Six may pass the call to a real person, and the consent for a hosted test call covers only whoever answers the number you dial. One needs to know the business is closed, which a hosted call does not. One hangs up mid-sentence, which the hosted line cannot do yet.
FAQ

Questions

Conflict rule. callerlab sells testing. We don’t sell or resell any voice platform, have no affiliate deals with them, and never audit a platform we rank. If that ever changes, we disclose it on the affected vendor’s benchmark row.
What's free?

Self-install is free. You run callerlab on your own machine with your own keys and phone number, and you pay the providers you use directly. Hosted calls need a paid plan: Solo, Team or Founding 25.

Is callerlab open source?

No. It's source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-ALv2). You can use it, read it, modify it and self-host it for free. You can't sell it as a competing hosted service. Each FSL-1.1-ALv2 release becomes Apache 2.0 two years after it ships (fsl.software). It's not OSI open source.

What's the difference between self-install and hosted?

They share the same commands, config, reports and flow. With self-install you bring your own keys and number and run everything yourself. Hosted runs the calls for you, so you don't need your own keys or phone number, and it adds hosted features on top.

What do Solo and Team include?

Solo includes 100 hosted minutes a month. Team includes 1,000. When you use those up, you can keep calling with prepaid credits: $0.20/min on Solo, $0.15/min on Team.

Monthly or yearly?

Either. Solo is $49 a month or $470 a year. Team is $399 a month or $3,830 a year. Pay yearly and save 20%.

What's Founding 25?

Founding 25 is a one-time offer for your first year: $1,990, prepaid, with a 12,000-minute yearly pool. Use up to 2,000 minutes a month from it. Extra minutes come from prepaid credits at $0.15/min. There are 25 spots, and they won't reopen. Unused pool minutes end with your Founding year. Credits you buy never expire.

Full refund within 14 days, as long as you haven't run a paid hosted call yet.

How do credits work?

You pay for your plan upfront. If you need more minutes than your plan includes, you can buy credits ahead of time at your plan's per-minute rate. Minimum top-up is $25 on Solo and $75 on Team and Founding 25. There is no auto top-up. Calls stop when your included minutes and credits run out, so you won't get a surprise bill.

What happens when I run out?

Your next call won't start. Buy more credits, or wait for your included minutes to reset on your monthly account anniversary (on Founding 25, from your yearly pool).

Do credits expire?

No. Credits you buy never expire. If you close your account, we refund any you haven't used.

Do you offer Enterprise plans?

Yes. Enterprise is “let's talk”. Tell us what you need and we'll work it out with you. Talk to us.

If the test caller glitches, does my agent fail?

No. A fault on our side never counts against your agent. We report that call as not a result, not a Fail. If your agent handles our glitch well, the report can note a commendation in a separate field. Your verdict stays the same.

Can I buy a plan now?

Not yet. Plans, credits and Founding 25 aren't on sale while we finish final review. We'll update this page when they are.
